Get out of the City and spend some time among the giant redwoods
Drive 3 hours to Mendocino where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset along the coast of the Mendocino Headlands State Park.
Stop at one of the local state parks for a small hike. Mendocino Headlands State Park is a must-stroll for its gorgeous views. There are miles of easy trails along the bluffs, allowing for incredible photo ops of the ocean and the sea caves and arches along the coastline.
Make your way north on a 3 hour drive from Mendocino by passing through Humboldt Redwoods State Park along the way to the city studded with with picturesque examples of Victorian style architecture.
Not far from Eureka, lies Humboldt Redwoods State Park which includes 17,000 acres of old-growth coastal redwoods. You can spend a whole day exploring the park and driving through the nearby Avenue of the Giants taking in the sheer size of the ancient trees.
A 4 hour drive from Eureka to Bodega Bay can be broken up by stops at the small towns along coast or wineries in Sonoma County.
You can enjoy multiple trails in Sonoma Coast State Park or Bodega Head. The Bodega Head is a gorgeous cliffside area that overlooks the bay. Walk to the tip via the Bodega Head trail and experience 360-degree views! The nearby Potter School House was prominently featured in Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece “The Birds" although it is now a private residence.
